Water monitoring done in September shows a high level of E coli in several parts of the catchment. We need to keep an eye on it.

On Friday the 10 th of September 2021, Richard Smith from Logic Solutions came to Whangawehi to access the state of the walkway. After this winter’s rain events, the walkway has moved which was to be expected. Most of the damage occurred on the first kilometre between the bridge and Mamangu. Richard will prepare a report and suggest some remedial work. A lot of the remedial work will involve better water management on the track. The damage that occurred is not a bad thing in the end as it has allowed the track to settle and adopt a more permanent shape and form. Once we have received Richard’s report, we will organise a meeting with the track building company and discuss a way forward.
