Chris Wilson’s team has been busy preparing and installing unique seats and tables along the lower reaches of the Whangawehi walkway. This is a first attempt to create a nice environment for people of all ages to come and enjoy this amazing place. Both car parks have been upgraded and will offer an access on both ends when the track is open to the public. The eathwork will resume in the spring and we hope that the gravelling will be completed before Christmas.

On Monday the 5th of July 2021, a group of woodworkers went to the walkway to have a look at the different spots where these beautiful creations will be installed.

Chris, Roland and Zealand picked a beautiful and sunny day to walk up to the rapids.The installation should be completed by the end of the week (weather permitting). A big thank you to Chris and his team and Bevan Parker from Pongaroa Station for their help.
