The restoration programme was made possible thanks to the support received from a wide range of sponsors. Funders requested that they would feel more confident to sustain their support if we were able to offer them a guaranty that their investment is secure for a number of years. The Conservation Management Agreement developed by all the landowners in the Whangawehi Catchment intends to achieve that on a 25 year period. The agreement does not involve registering the retired areas against the land title, it is not a QE2 covenant. Landowners commit to look after their fences and their trees, 3 years after tree establishment (prior to that the WCMG takes care of the trees).
