In early November, Mahia Peninsula received 350 mm of rainfall over a week. This storm created many landslides in the landscape. The walkway has been severely affected with several deep land slides damaging the track. Several key access points have been temporarily cut. We need to wait for the slips to dry out before we can start any remedial work and reroute the track ( and the fences) in certain parts of the walkway. It will take several months before we can restore track access and reinstate fence lines and track.
We thank you all for your patience and ask the public to respect the signs and not access the walkway please
